So as you may have remembered from my December Glossybox post, I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to continue with Glossybox bc I felt they were a bit inconsistent. However when I heard a rumour that they might be popping a cheeky Spectrum fan brush in the July one (thanks Hannah), I was sucked back into sending a present to myself every month with the offer of 50% off my first box and two bonus products. The theme of this box seems to be keeping your skin and hair looking natural and healthy, which is perfect for the transition into summer!

So first up was this gem, which I’m incredibly excited about/terrified to use. It’s the BeautyPro Black Diamond Black Peel Off Mask. It’s one of those charcoal peel off masks that pulls out your blackheads that everyone under the sun has been using lately. I’ve been dying to try one, so that’s where the excitement comes from. The fear comes from the many spots I have, and also the little bit of peach fuzz collecting on my top lip – really don’t want those yanked about. Let me know if it’s gonna cause any discomfort but I’ll probably give it a try anyway, and I’ll post an update for anyone who’s interested.

RRP: £4.95 for 3, individual mask approx £1.65 worth of product

Next up is this 111Skin Space Defence Bright Eye Lift Gel, which reduces dark circles, minimises puffiness, softens fine lines and hydrates your undereye area. I feel like this is supposed to be an anti-aging product which I don’t really need yet as I’m only 19 (lmao), but I think I’ll still use this because its effects sound really helpful for soothing the undereye area. I’ve been using it as often as I remember to and so far it seems really cooling and gentle, but I haven’t really seen any massive changes yet. I’ll have to keep tabs on it a bit more and let you know in an update. However it’s likely that I won’t ever purchase the full-size product as it’s just a bit hefty in the price department.

RRP: £110 for full size, 5ml sample approx £36 worth of product

This next product is the Sleek Power Plump Lip Crayon in Notorious Nude. It’s a super cute browny nude with a satin finish. It’s super comfortable and it definitely makes your lips tingle, which is a good sign that it does the job when it comes to plumping. It makes my lips look super full and it’s great for days when I wanna do a look that’s a bit more natural and toned down; plus it’s really comfortable to wear.

RRP: £5.50

I was quite excited when I saw this one as the packaging instantly grabbed me due to how cute it is (love a bit of shiny pink tbh). First off let me just say that I absolutely love the smell of this hand cream – it’s got this really subtle coconut smell that has me dying. It makes my hands feel super moisturised and soft, but the only thing is that it’s one of those hand creams that doesn’t quite rub in properly and leaves your hands feeling greasy if that makes sense? I really like it though and I think for the price it’s really good.

RRP: £6.50

The next item is one that I probably won’t get much use out of: The Batiste Stylist Shield My Locks Heat & Shine Spray. I think it’s a really cool idea for people who use straighteners and stuff, but other than my 8 million hair products for my dyed blonde hair (if you wanna see a post on how I look after it then let me know), I’m not really someone who does a great deal with their hair. I’ve also never really been that into hair spray, but I feel like it would do the job if I ended up needing it. Batiste is a brand I really trust so it’s not a bad product at all, I just probably won’t end up using it.

RRP: £4.49

The last of the beauty products that came in the actual box was this Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo Illuminator. It says that you can mix it in with your foundation for a more dewy look or you can put it on your cheekbones on its own. As the name suggests, it’s really quite sheer; I tried it on my cheekbones but it doesn’t really show up that well. However I’ve really been loving mixing this in with my foundation to create a gorgeous dewy look, and it even makes you look a bit glittery which is really cute. I’m not sure that I’d splurge for the full version of this product, but I’m quite enjoying playing around with it for now.

RRP: £22.50

Then they also included this little sneak preview of Louise Pentland‘s book Wilde Like Me. I’m not really a huge fan of Louise (not that I hate her, I just don’t watch her), but I might get around to reading this eventually, I’m just not that fussed. I’m a bit busy reading My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix, which is amazing so far (in case you were interested in what I’m reading).

Bonus Products

The first bonus product I got for signing up was the thisworks in transit camera close-up which claims to be a Mask, moisturiser and primer in one. I was really intrigued by this concept and I love it as an idea to be honest. To quote the brand name: this works! It has a thicker consistency than your average primer/moisturiser due to its mask quality, but it doesn’t feel like too much. It’s really nice to apply, I love the way it feels and it has a citrusy scent. It provides a great base for makeup, it perks up my skin and I really like it as all three things! I would definitely recommend this product. The full size is more than I’d usually pay so I’ll decide whether to repurchase when I run out but I’m really impressed so far, and I feel like it does a lot for the price!

RRP: £30 for full size, sample size approx £15 worth of product

The other bonus product was this Model co Contour Stick. I’d never tried a contour stick before, but the potential that it was quite red toned worried me a bit. However the stick applies really easily and it blends out really nicely. It gives me a nice bronzey look and it looks nice with my Sleek Contour Kit on top (read about that here). I’ll have to play around with it a bit more but I’m really liking it so far!

RRP: £17.00

Overall, I’m really happy I decided to give Glossybox another shot. This box was really impressive and the products all fit really well together. I’ll definitely be getting a lot of use out of them and I’ll let you know how I get on with the mask and stuff when I’ve had them for a bit longer.

Overall box value w/o bonus items: appr £76.64

With bonus items: appr £108.64

As you can see, this box had an insane value for money, especially for the £5 I paid for it. I’m really excited to continue my subscription – what a great start!
