Primark have really been upping their game recently, and I was super excited to see that they had a range of matte liquid lipsticks! I saw sophdoesnails swatch the one in the shade Kendall in one of her videos, and it looked like the exact nude shade I’d been looking for. The packaging also reminded me a little bit of the Sleek Matte Me liquid lipsticks, which made me even more excited to try it. (I actually did a review of those lipsticks, which you can find here). And, I thought it looked suspiciously like the shade Bianca that Colourpop has.
For £2/3 I thought I might as well give it a try, so here’s a quick little post about what I thought!
So as you can see from the swatch, the colour looks gorgeous; it seemed like exactly what I wanted (I’d literally been looking for a nude this colour for ages). The formula also seemed pretty nice too.
When I actually put it on my lips…it was a bit of a different story. I absolutely loved the colour, it went on nicely, and it looked really nice when I first applied it. However when it actually dried it was so drying. It sunk into all of the lines in my lips and made them look more than a little pruney.
Granted, it calls itself Super Matte, and that’s what it actually is. But although I loved the colour so much and could see myself wearing it so often, I don’t think I can due to how it makes my lips look. I’m actually really sad about it as I’d love to be able to make it work, especially as it’s so similar to Colourpop’s Bianca – so close and yet so far… (cries).
At the end of the day it was only £2/£3 (although I’d definitely recommend splashing the extra £2 or so for the Sleek ones I reviewed here), and at least I can say I’ve finally delved into the world of Primark makeup! The range definitely looks like it has a lot more to offer – I’ve tried one of their brushes before and I’m really open to trying more things.
*Update – I tried it using one of their lip crayons as a lip liner/base and it looks so much better. I wear it quite often now*
So, let me know if there are any Primark makeup products you’d like to see me try because this hasn’t put me off; with a tweak of the formula this could be a great lipstick. (Also – if you know of any cheap non-colourpop dupes of this shade hit me up because I need it in my life).
See you again on Friday for another post!
