Before this I’d never actually tried an MUA lipstick and they weren’t particularly on my radar. But when I wanted to make up my superdrug order to £5, this gorgeous looking £1 matte lipstick with an incredibly cute name screamed at me to give it a try.
When I first opened the Fancy Fawn Matte Lipstick I was super excited to try it as it looked like a beautiful colour and the quality looked great for the price. I thought the packaging was really cute, (although watch out for the bottom part incase it’s loose).
It didn’t make for the greatest swatch as I’ve actually accidentally broken the lipstick and it’s now seriously deformed (oops). But you can still see that the colour is gorgeous.
When I put it on my lips I was amazed. The pigmentation of the lipstick is actually really good; I was actually pleasantly surprised considering the £1 price tag. It’s really easy to build to make it as dark as you want, and with a couple of coats it comes out as a gorgeous pink-brown nude. I think this colour would work great on any skin tone. When applying it, be careful not to press too hard (as you should be with all lipsticks) because that’s how I managed to break mine! The lipstick can occasionally apply a little grainy, but honestly for £1 the quality is great. It looks matte when you put it on, but it also feels super creamy and isn’t drying at all; this is just what you want from an everyday matte lipstick.
The staying power of this lipstick is actually really good for the price; obviously you need to reapply it quite a lot because it’s not going to stay on all day or anything, but it doesn’t wear off in a way that looks horrible (or particularly noticeable). I wear this lipstick almost every day as it works to accentuate more bold eye looks, as well as being a really pretty and subtle everyday nude. The colour is incredibly versatile and I’m obsessed with it. It’s definitely worth the £1 I paid for it and more – it practically pays for itself!
Overall I was super impressed with this lipstick as I wasn’t even expecting to love it so much that I’d end up using it almost every day! I didn’t actively seek out this lipstick, but I’m glad I bought it. It’s taught me not to judge a book by its cover (or rather a lipstick by its price tag); I’d definitely recommend it whether you’re on a budget or just looking for a really nice, wearable nude.
